The Weather Channel App or TWC is the Best Weather App out right now. The feature rich interface could be a little more modern or visually appealing compared to other weather apps such as the default iPhone App, Weather.
However, where the app does excel is in information abundance and accessibility! Once you open the app you are a taken to the home screen where it gives you four time choices for the Forecast:
Current or Home Screen
Hourly
36 Hour
10 Day
As you can see from the screen-shots above there is all the info you need. Lastly, you can see the search bar with Indianapolis, IN (46214) this is where you specify your location. It’s very intuitive and after clicking on the Locations button you have your list of Favorites, Recents, and at the very bottom a Temperature category that allows you to toggle back and forth between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
There are also two buttons in the upper right and left corner. If you select the button in the upper left hand corner it will automatically populate the weather for your Current Location using the built-in GPS in your iPhone and return you to the home screen (the screen showing the current weather):
The button in the upper right hand corner brings you to a screen where you can enter a city or zip code as criterion for a search and then you can choose that area as the location used (really helpful for traveling and when you want to know what the weather is like somewhere other than your current location).
A really nice feature that TWC has for keeping these lists clean, organized, and customized is the little sideways blue echelon. If you click on this it will give you the options of: Edit, Nickname, Delete, Set As Home.
I love this and check out the screenshot (renamed the Indianapolis area weather, Downtown Nap)! Whats really cool is this renaming trickles to the home screen (and everywhere else in the app you would have seen the original name) after renaming it in the Locations Screen.
The last features TWC has are the Explore Map tab, which is great when storms are approaching and is basically like a mini version of a doppler radar they show on the TV. The Severe tab is also incredibly helpful if you have adverse weather where you live or are traveling too! The Severe tab also sports a counting badge which shows if they are any alerts in your area!
The culmination of TWC is the Video tab, which houses a nice Quicktime video with the current weather, and forecasts unique to your location (it has really cheesy 80′s porn background music), sort of like a mini-weather broadcast you would see on TV (the videos are usually around a minute or two long).
As you can see this App is so much more than a pretty picture with a temperature stamped on it! Thats why its part of the Way2Hype iPhone Starter Kit!
Anything you really like don’t like or just think is flat out awesome Comment below!
