Ok so you have finally decided to take the plunge and jailbreak your iPhone! Glad to have you and welcome to the dark side!

So why would anyone want to jailbreak their iDevice? There are a ton of reasons, but mostly for freedom. For example: to unlock your iPhone, Facetime over 3G, 5 Apps in your dock, custom lockscreens, custom themes, sync to iTunes wirelessly, download apps Apple has rejected i.e. Grooveshark, and a ton of other awesome stuff!
Ok now that you are hip to the jig (I have always wanted to say that) here is what you are going to need to do:
FYI: This jailbreak is for iPads, iPhone 3GS/4, iPod Touch 2G/3G/4G using iOS 4.2.1
1. Download greenpois0n RC5 for Mac or Download greenpois0n RC5 for Windows
2. Update or Restore your device to 4.2.1 (you can do this through iTunes, but if you want to download the firmware directly checkout Mario’s awesome site jailbreakmatrix.com)
3. Start greenpois0n and click on Jailbreak
4. Put device into DFU mode by following the instructions on the screen.
5. Grab a cup of coffee or a scooby snack 
and let greenpois0n do it’s thing (about 5 mins), then your device will automatically reboot
6. You will now see a new app icon on your springboard called loader, launch it
7. Follow the instructions in the loader app to install Cydia
Voila you have jailbroken your iOS device on 4.2.1! Congrats!

If you haven’t already heard Verizon Wireless announced their version of the iPhone 4. Among all the hoopla and hype I think it is safe to say that VZW has a long way to go in regards to a product launch! The pitiful launch was the exact opposite of what everyone has come to expect when an Apple Product is debuted and definitely left you wanting more, especially since no prices on data plans have been released. So lets get right into it.

Non-Exclusive Agreement, which means CDMA carriers such as Sprint maybe able to offer an iPhone option in the future. What does this mean for consumers? More competition, hence lower prices and better plans.
Wi-Fi Hotspots is a new feature added to the CDMA iPhone, which will allow for up to 5 devices to be connected at once! This is one of the most asked for features by AT&T users. Tethering is currently available right now for AT&T, but it isn’t the same as a Wi-Fi hotspot. However, on a jailbroken AT&T iPhone, MyWi, an app available on Cydia, allows this functionality.
Unlimited Data Plans* are rumored and make a lot of business sense in terms bringing differentiation to Verizon’s iPhone. Cross your fingers and hope the rumors are true! Hopefully, this will also extend to the Wi-Fi Hotspot too, but more than likely they will cap that.
VZ Navigator is offered as a free app this really isn’t that epic, but it isn’t bad or ugly. However, anyone with an iPhone that wants turn by turn navigation download Navigon, it puts every other turn by turn nav service you have used to shame!
AT&T iPhone 4 accessories might not fit correctly on new Verizon iPhone 4. The Verizon iPhone is almost identical to the AT&T version with a few subtle details such as the mute button being a little higher and a new antennae design, during early tests many people have said that the redesign has eliminated the death grip, but only time will tell. See Picture above.
Pre-Ordering starts February 3rd for Verizon Wireless Customers and the iPhone will be available for purchase for everyone February 10th through Apple and Verizon. The reason this is under the bad category is because I don’t understand why you wouldn’t be able to pre-order today. All the pre-order details for this will be confirmed by Verizon the week before the 3rd.
2 Year Contract is required for the subsidized pricing: $199 for the 16GB and $299 for the 32GB and with the iPhone 5 looking like it will be released in June or July of this year. You will be caught holding the bag with an iPhone 4 on CDMA instead of the blazing fast LTE!
No White iPhone 4! I thought this would be a great way for Verizon to differentiate their iPhone from the current one, but more than likely AT&T will either get it at the same time or early. It is slated for Spring 2011
CDMA = No Data while using the phone This is a deal breaker for me. Even if Verizon offered me a night out with Alice Eve to help entice me to switch I still wouldn’t (well it might work she is pretty hot). A few examples when you might use voice and data at the same time: Chatting with your BF/GF on the phone and trying to figure out what time a movie is and make a restaurant reservation through Open Table or talking to a colleague about an email and not being able to read it without disconnecting the phone call. They did tweak it so you could talk and text at the same time aka putting lipstick on a pig!
No GSM Capability. I know this probably sounds like I am beating a dead horse, but the world standard is GSM and unless you are in 1 of a handful of countries that use CDMA you will not be able to use your Verizion iPhone in that country (yes you can still use it on wi-fi, but then just buy an iPod touch and not worry about contracts and get way better hardware!)
Now the iPhone market can be “loosely” divided into 3 segments: Verizon Customers, AT&T iPhone Owners, and everyone else. The pros and cons are different for everyone, but here is what I think:
Verizon Customers: Don’t buy, if you care about long-run happiness. I know its so easy to live in the short-run, but delayed gratification is the term I will use here. If you buy now and the iPhone 5 comes out in just a few months and you are stuck with a shitty CDMA iPhone 4, you will not be happy with your decision. Look at it like this: You date a really hot girl strictly based on her looks and because she is available (aka buying the iPhone 4 because it is available), you are living in the short-run and eventually a few months down the road you become numb to her beauty. Then serendipitously you meet the woman of your dreams(iPhone 5), but can’t do anything because you locked into a relationship(contract) with the first girl (iPhone 4). With that being said, you should do what will ultimately make you happy, but I think a lot of people will be a lot happier if they wait and purchase a CDMA iPhone 5.
AT&T iPhone Owners: No brainer! Don’t buy! Even if you have a capped data plan at 2GB. Odds are you will never use that much a month. I consider myself a data hog, but I have never even come close to 2GB. (I actually have an unlimited data plan because I was grandfathered in, but even if I didn’t I still wouldn’t switch.)
Everyone Else: Buy an AT&T iPhone or wait for an iPhone 5. The reason I say this is because I think Verizon’s network will underperform because it has never seen how it’s network will perform under the weight of millions of iPhones. Furthermore, I think some AT&T customers will switch to Verizon, hence reducing the strain on the AT&T network, plus it is GSM!

Now that my soap box speech is over, I don’t think buying a Verizon iPhone is the right decision for anyone. On the other hand, I have dated women strictly based on their looks and it would be hypocritical of me to say don’t do it, but I just want you to understand that this is strictly a short-run decision and you will not be happy with your iPhone 4 in the long-run, but then again maybe you can setup a Ménage à trois between your iPhones and be happy in the short-run and long-run!

To all the people wanting an iPhone, but don’t want to use AT&T…THE WAIT IS OVER! According to many sources, including the Wall Street Journal, Verizon has officially landed the iPhone and is expected to announce it Tuesday at an event in New York City (see the invitation), which leads many to believe it will just be a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 and not a new iPhone. Sidenote: If you didn’t realize Tuesday is 1/11/11, which is pretty cool. The only thing cooler would be 11/11/11, which my friends are getting married on! Congrats Josh and D!
So when is it available for purchase?! No one will know until Tuesday, but there are reports that show Apple and Verizon have blacked out vacations for employee’s between February 3 and February 6. As you might recall, when Apple released the iPhone 4 last year, June 24th-27th, it was also a Thursday through Sunday!
I think the next biggest question everyone has is: how many AT&T customers will switch to Verizon? This is a complex question with many variables: Unlimited Data, Verizon’s network performance under the data hungry iPhone, and the contract severance fee. However, I think the biggest and most important variable is unlimited data. Another report by the WSJ claims Verizon will offer unlimited data plans! I have unlimited data right now because I was grandfathered in so it is going to take something really epic to make me want to switch to Verizon. However, if you don’t have an unlimited data plan and you have one of AT&T’s capped plans it might make switching carriers a little more appealing. As of now, you can pay $25 a month for AT&T’s 2GB plan and Verizon is expected to offer an unlimited plan for $30. To help put that 2GB cap into context, 2GB is approximately 200 hours of YouTube Video. Ultimately, it comes down to paying $5 extra dollars to stop the “data-meter” or saving $5 a month, but have that 2GB cap hanging over your head.
So what is the nation of hypeness going to do? Buy an iPhone from Verizon, Switch to Verizon and Ditch AT&T, Stay with AT&T, or just be lame all together and keep your crappy non-iPhone (HTC EVO is pretty legit I will admit). Leave your answers in the comments!

Pick your song from your media library, choose the 20 second snippet (Paid Version allows for longer recordings), press save, drag the file from your itunes to the desktop, and click the file on your desktop!
